Rabbi Or Rose

Rabbi Or Rose is the founding director of the Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership of Hebrew College. Or was also a founding faculty member of the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College and a long-time Jewish educator.

He is the author or editor of several academic and popular works, including Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi: Essential Teachings and With the Best of Intentions: Interreligious Missteps & Mistakes (both co-edited, Orbis Books). His most recent work, written for young adults is My Legs Were Praying: A Biography of Abraham Joshua Heschel.

Rabbi Rose recently taught a class on Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and Interfaith for our online Yeshiva.


Rabbi Levy Derby

Rabbi Lavey Derby is a nationally recognized Jewish educator, spiritual guide, meditation teacher and innovative Jewish community leader. He is an generation direct descendent of Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berditchev for whom he is named.

For almost two decades he served as rabbi and spiritual leader of Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon, CA, where I helped build a community based on the principles of Torah study, personal spiritual quest and practice, and acts of social justice. He has also served as Director of Jewish Life of the Peninsula JCC (Foster City, CA) where, in addition to creating public Jewish educational programs, Lavey conceived, founded and co-created Shalem, a Jewish Wellness initiative offering holistic wellness and well-being programs inspired by and infused with Jewish spiritual wisdom.

Previously, Rabbi Derby served as the Director of the Council for Jewish Life, a community think-tank engaging in identifying underserved populations and addressing critical issues, at the Federation of Greater Los Angeles. Lavey was (in the 1980’s) the Director of Jewish Education at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan, a faculty member at CLAL, the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, and at the Wexner Heritage Foundation, and have also taught for the Industrial Areas Foundation (a national leader in faith-based organizing). He is currently Senior Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, and is certified as a Spiritual Director by the Morei Derekh Jewish Spiritual Direction Training program, and as a Jewish mindfulness meditation teacher by the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, where he also taught.

He was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary, and trained as a lay therapist at the Alfred Adler Institute in New York.


Jared Gellart 

Jared Gellert is the Director of earthbasedjudaism.org Studied philosophy, Buddhism, studies, Native American and Jewish Studies. His diverse set of skills included experience as a social worker, the business owner of an educational curriculum company and the steward of a beautiful 100 acre farm.

Jared has served on the Board of Wilderness Torah and has been a learned consultant to a variety of organizations. He is currently teaching earth based Judaism online.


D’vorah Gren

Devorah Grenn PhD Kohenet/Priestess, is Founding Director of The Lilith Institute (1997). She Co-Directed the former Women’s Spirituality MA Program at Institute of Transpersonal Psychology/Sofia University, and founded Mishkan Shekhinah, a movable sanctuary honoring the Sacred Feminine.

An Adjunct Professor at Napa Valley College, D’vorah also serves as a spiritual mentor and guide. Her Talking To Goddess anthology includes sacred writings of 72 women from 25 traditions. Other publications include Lilith’s Fire: Reclaiming Our Sacred Lifeforce; “The Kohanot: Keepers of the Flame” in Stepping into Ourselves: An Anthology of Writing on Priestesses; and the Jewish priestess and Lilith entries, Encyclopedia of Women in World Religions.
